Event Description:
Since World War II, there have been 11 recessions, coming about every 7 years on average. The longest stretch between recessions was 11 years (1990-2001). Given that the Great Recession started in December of 2007—about 12 years ago—some are saying, “We’re due.”

This Level UP Workshop will explore ways to recession-proof your tax strategy so that you can be prepared if the market begins to drop. Scott Peters from MUN CPAs will be the workshop facilitator and share information on topics such as internal accounting, tax planning strategies, exploring tax credits and how they change the game, when to incorporate your business, and how to prepare your business for sale.

Scott is a CPA who has a passion for helping small businesses. His goal is to help business owners succeed from day one. He believes in dreaming big while focusing on results. Scott has been working with MUN CPA's since 2010. He is a licensed CPA and manages the South Lake Tahoe office where he has lived since 2016. He has experience working with companies in multiple industries including technology, health care and real estate. He has experience with C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, LLC's and individual tax returns. He also has an emphasis in preparing and calculating Research & Development tax credits for sole proprietorship's, startups, and existing companies. The RD Credits is one of the most underutilized tax incentives in the tax code, which can provide a valuable tool to increase cash flow and save on taxes. He is also familiar and can assist with Opportunity Zone Funds, a highly anticipated tax incentive passed with the new 2017 tax law.
