Description
Be a Steward of Stormwater and help keep pollution out of Lake Tahoe! Water from street-side storm drains is often not treated before entering Lake Tahoe or its tributaries. Most of the nutrients and fine sediment particles that cause clarity loss originate in our local commercial centers and neighborhoods.
Volunteers will sweep the storm drain free of debris and pick up trash, install English and Spanish markers in the Tahoe Keys neighborhood onto storm drain grates and learn about the environmental impacts of stormwater runoff. Chalking "SOS", "No dumping", etc. around the drain will also bring awareness. A short presentation will be given as to the impacts our stormwater has on Lake Tahoe.
Refreshments will be served and this is free to attend. In partnership with the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association. These storm drain marking events are made possible by a generous grant from Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association and Wells Fargo.
Meet at the tennis courts on Emerald Drive and Venice Drive in the Tahoe Keys.
