Membership, Events and Program Manager

The Membership, Events and Program Manager will report to the CEO and will be responsible for general membership sales as well as program and event development and execution. The Membership, Events and Program Manager will actively promote the value of chamber membership and clearly communicate the services and benefits to prospective and current members. Must be a collaborative team player who is adept at handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This is a salaried position and will require some early morning, evenings and weekend work.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities include: 

  • Programs & Events Execution: In coordination with the CEO develop timelines and budgets for signature annual events. Plan, manage and execute all aspects of Programs and Events. This will include selling sponsorships, developing relationships and working with volunteers and community partners. Programs and events include the following examples:
    • Annual Special Events - Sample the Sierra, Business Expo, Blue Ribbon Awards
    • Recurring Events – Mixers, Town Hall Forums and Level Up Workshops
    • Programs – Go Local
  • Membership: Work with the CEO to establish annual membership growth and retention goals accompanied by a Membership Retention Plan. Conduct outreach to potential members via phone, email and in person visits utilizing Chamber Master’s CRM capabilities to track outreach, sign-ups and delivery of membership benefits. Ensure monthly invoicing is completed and follow-up on past due invoices. Deliver to the CEO an accurate membership sales, drops and retention report each month to be included in the board packet.
  • Membership Committee: Work with the Chair and CEO to develop and energize a Membership Committee to support membership sales and retention via board outreach.
  • Ambassador Program: Revitalize the Ambassador Program to collaborate with the Membership Committee in furtherance of achieving goals. Recruit new members and develop plan for monthly assignments, gatherings and activities such as assisting at mixers and ribbon cuttings.
  • Grant Management: Support CEO in ensuring grant funded programs and events are properly accounted for through the collection of receipts, record keeping and report generation.

  • Event Planning & Coordination – Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and committees utilizing appropriate technology and systems for communication and organizational purposes.
  • Leadership – Proven leader with the ability to establish relationships and inspire others. 
  • Communications Skills – Exemplary written and verbal communication skills that are appropriate, professional and respectful.
  • Membership Sales & Retention – Validated experience in membership outreach, relationship development, membership sales and 85% or above retention. (Or comparable verifiable sales experience.)
  • Committee /Volunteer Recruitment – Ability to attract talented volunteers and lead, motivate and recognize their contributions.
  • Community & Partner Relations – Proven ability to develop professional relationships at the peer level.
  • Fundraising/Revenue Development & Sponsorship Sales – Successful track record in sponsorship level development, sales and fundraising. Sponsor fulfillment tracking and timely recognition. Proposal and grant writing experience, tracking and reporting is a plus.
  • Marketing & Advertising – Awareness of developing and executing a marketing strategy including event promotion through the general media and social media.
  • Technology & Software – Comfortable using computers and a variety of different software platforms and Apps. Must be competent in Microsoft Office 365. Experience using Google Docs and Chamber Master is desired.
Education: Minimum of an Associate Degree    
Desired Professional Designations: CSEP, ACE, CCE
Professional Business Experience:  Minimum five years in a middle or senior management or sales position in a chamber, non-profit or business with proven success.
