Description
We are United in Progress, please join us. We have a powerful slate of speakers to bring you the latest in critical thinking and the biggest issue facing all business globally, how the internet and technology you have never seen will affect your business; how you communicate and serve your customer; and much more. Most of all, you will see it first from global experts.
Sam Shad of Nevada Newsmakers will be our MC — guiding us through the day with his extensive knowledge of Nevada politics and our economy.
KEYNOTE: Howard Charney, Senior Vice President, Cisco Systems, will speak about the “Internet of Everything.” Today there are more things connected to the Internet than there are people in the world. In the very near future, everything you can imagine will wake up, turning information into actions that create new capabilities, richer experiences, and unprecedented economic opportunity for businesses, individuals, and countries.
Erik Lindhjem is Executive Product Manager/GE Bently Nevada Software division. Mr. Lindhjem will bring us a presentation on the industrial Internet, Bently Nevada’s leadership in this space, and specifically how this impacts Douglas County. Mr. Lindhjem joined GE through an acquisition and has held a variety of service, sales, and product leadership roles focusing on providing solutions for customers in the power generation and hydrocarbon processing industries.
Lisa Granahan, Economic Vitality Manager, Douglas County — The county will unveil the long-awaited “Doing Business Portal” which will link business to those key services used most and which will offer a more guided Web approach for answers to questions such as “How Do I: relocate, expand, or start a business?” Also learn about other “Open for Business” improvements being made or in the works.
KEYNOTE: Maggie Wilderotter, CEO, Frontier Communications — Ms. Wilderotter became Chairman and CEO of Frontier Communications Corporation in January 2006. She joined the company in November 2004 as President and CEO and a member of the Board. Earlier, she was SVP of Worldwide Public Sector at Microsoft and President and CEO of Wink Communications. Prior positions included EVP of National Operations for AT&T Wireless Services, CEO of AT&T’s Aviation Communications Division, and SVP of McCaw Cellular Communications. Ms. Wilderotter will tell us how Frontier is adapting to the changes in technology and what Frontier is doing specifically in Douglas County to help rural communities stay connected.
